The Expendables 2 - All It Was Set Out To Be.

I wasn't too keen on the first film and had pretty good reasons to believe that - the film was marred by a thinly-written script and an overused plot. It nailed the 'action' part of the genre but the emotional tease that you expect from a movie of this caliber was non-existent. This wasn't the case with the sequel.

In fact, the sequel was surprisingly a whole lot more gripping and watchable than it's predecessor. When you call something an action movie, give me mind-blowing action - probably what this series will be known for from this point on. And I won't lie, I enjoyed it. Even more so than I expected. You never got to know the expendables properly in the first film, and this one doesn't bother to fix that. But the fact that all these guys do is kick ass all day it's better if you don't know much about them - I think you'll agree that it's mystifying (to say the least).

So obviously I couldn't go ahead and find a VFX take on the movie (which wasn't particularly hard to find - thank you YouTube!)

Have a looksy!

I also, having expected the barrage of Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator allusions, he does manage to get a kick out of you every time he says, 'I'm back' or 'I'll be back' - to which Bruce Willis simply replies, 'You've been back enough!'. I thought this was brilliant!

Vudu.com. A Netflix Killer?

So chances are you're already an avid Netflix-er. Netflix took the world by storm when the service was released to the masses. For $8 a month, you could stream TV Shows and Movies on any platform whenever, and wherever you wanted. Which was brilliant! It became so popular that it caused DVD-rental franchises like Blockbuster to go bankrupt. (True Story)

Vudu's intuitive UI makes selecting on-demand movies easier!

But now it looks like even Netflix has got some pretty sweet competition brewing. Enter Vudu.com. Without further ado, let's run down some of Vudu's services.

Vudu's movies are in HDX - the highest quality true 1080p HD available on the internet. It supports crisp Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 surround sound along with more on-demand content than anywhere else. More is added each week!

You're probably wondering how much it'll cost you. Well, keep in mind that you only pay for what you watch, so $2 for 2 nights should be more than enough for you to use without having to worry about any monthly or late fees!

Similar to Netflix, you can stream Vudu on a multitude of devices. This includes, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Roku, Bluray/TV, iPad etc. If it's out on DVD, you can watch it TODAY! Get the movie on video without the hassle of having to pick through last year's stock on-demand!

Sign up for Vudu.com today and receive one free movie from a selection of movies! Offer valid November 1 - 30, 2012.

Path for iOS

Looking for a nifty little app where you can keep up with as many friends as intuitively as possible? Enter Path, for iOS. I've had this on my iPhone 4 for a little over 2 months and I can honestly say that I'm addicted to it.

Sign up is easy. You can sign up with your Facebook or create an account using your email. Don't worry though, you can link sites like Facebook, Instagram, Foursquare, Tumblr and Twitter later on. What lies ahead of the sign-up process is a gorgeous interface that is both clean and intuitive.

The whole idea is to catalogue what you do in your daily life for your friends to see. There are a multitude of different 'moments' you can add to your timeline. If you're listening to music, you can check-in to that and the app will locate the song you're listening to on your iDevice.

So how do you know if your friends have seen your latest check-in? Well, you can either turn on push-notifications via the settings tab or simply sign in and you'll see a small counter beside your check-in. The number tells you how many of your friends have seen it. Your friends can also comment or 'like' the moment by using emoticons - they're always good to have in any social networking app, right?

One of the main uses for smartphones these days is photography. Or as they call it, 'iPhoneography'. Path has various cool filters that you can use for your pictures; much like Instagram. You can share these with your Twitter, Facebook etc. just by tapping the correct icons as you're about to share.

Another cool thing about the app is the 'Go to sleep' and 'I'm Awake' feature. If you're about to go for a nap, simply tap the crescent shaped button on the bottom left corner and you can choose to 'Go to sleep'. And when you wake up, hit 'Awake' and you can resume with the app and go about your day-to-day activities.

Brilliantly rate, Path is an amazing app! And it's free! Check it out on iTunes today and get your download.

Cheers! :)

Cabin In The Woods - Almost Sickeningly Fun

A bunch of teenages head off for a weekend in a cabin in the woods, only to find themselves isolated from the outside world. Stuck in the middle of nowhere, they find more than what they've bargained for. The campers are all under observation and now they must fend off the inevitable to find the truth behind their entrapment.

The Good

Here's the deal, Cabin In The Woods makes it exceedingly difficult to be disliked because it's got Joss Whedon behind it. This is the same dude who brought the Avengers to the big screen in all it's fantastic glory and box office records.

This guy always steals show!

Even at this moment in time, I'm puzzled as to who this movie was made for. But having watched it even once, I can honestly that it's a pretty fun film to sit through. I couldn't help but laugh watching these teens get killed one after another. The whole concept of being 'simulated' by a bunch of mad scientists trying to abide by an ancient ritual adds a flare of originality - which is a good thing even in the midst of the massive cg gorefest you're made to endure.

Thor? Is that you?

Cabin In The Woods has some pretty cool ideas and is definitely not your usual slasher flick. It's more like a spoof...a serious one...with a little bit of comic relief here and there and a very poetically just ending. The movie introduces characters that we all expect from a horror film these days: The virgin, the 'whore', the athlete, the scholar and some other guy that I can't recall - this dude was amazing!

Zombies!

The Bad

The movie is a comedy before a horror flick. Some may argue that it was meant to be this way, but even if it was, it's not all that apparent. Cabin In The Woods kicks off as one helluva movie and disintegrates into nothing more than a 'Meh! Whatever!' or 'What the hell just happened?' The latter works really well in a horror movie, but as you'll see, the conclusion is utterly absurd.

[Spoiler Alert]

Out of nowhere, Sigourney Weaver appears and reveals herself to be the brains of the whole organization keeping these kids trapped and basically sacrificing them to 'satisfy the Gods' in order to save the world. I know...WTF?!
